Cancer and Us are a small, self funding, local cancer support group based within the Salford District of Manchester.

Our main aim is to offer proactive emotional and practical support to those of you who are suffering from cancer, as well as your relatives, carers and friends who are involved in your care.

Meeting people who are currently dealing with the challenges of cancer, or have dealt with it in the past, is a great way to learn and understand about the practicalities of the illness.

All advice is given in honest, easy to understand 'laymans terms' which we've found to be the best way of helping people cope with what they are experiencing. We offer a positive, practical approach and provide valuable ongoing reassurance.

You're bound to experience bouts of depression, anxiety, confusion, self doubt and anger. That's all normal. Our members understand exactly how you are feeling and what you are going through.

We simply hope that by attending our group sessions, you'll become part of an invaluable support network of people, maximising your knowledge, strength and confidence to levels that will enable you to move your life forward in a positive direction.

Cancer and Us are here to support you, your families and friends regardless of gender, race, religion, age or cancer type.

When you come to our group, you will be warmly welcomed and introduced to other members. You will have a chance to talk about yourself and your experience with cancer, however we must stress that you don't have to talk about anything you don't want to. It might take a few visits before you feel comfortable enough to talk about personal issues, if at all.

If you're not comfortable in groups, are infirm or you live some distance away, you might wish to arrange to talk to one of our group members over the phone.

We currently meet on the last Tuesday of each month from 7.00pm - 9.00pm however during the course of the year, we also organise numerous days out, 'feel good' activities and social events.
