People react very differently
to the word 'Cancer' and many people feel totally helpless when
they are first told they have the disease.
It's completely natural to initially feel anxious, frustrated, angry,
irrational and confused, yet some people automatically feel that
they're lives are now in the hands of doctors and hospitals, and
that there's nothing they can do for themselves.
They'd be wrong!
There are many things that you and your
family can do to help you fully understand your illness, come to
terms with the treatment you may have to endure and cope with the
practical, emotional and financial stresses and strains that cancer
can bring with it.
The internet is a fabulous resource for accessing a wide range of
cancer information and all of the main bodies that we generally
associate with cancer, such as Cancer
Research UK, MacMillan
Cancer Support, St
Ann's Hospice, Marie
Curie and Christie's
have a wealth of information for you to read through at your own
pace.
We've also put together a very small amount of information, which
we hope will help get you started on your way:
